Once Upon a Time: Book Publishing 101

Saturday, August 22, 2020, 7:00 – 8:00 PM UTC

Do you have a story you think kids would like? Learn the basics about finding an artist, a publisher and getting your book out there!

About this event

Join children's author Lance Stanford (Santa's Kitchen, The Embassy, Flames, Witches and Wiseguys) to learn what you need to do to start your literary journey!  The first step is the hardest and most people get frustrated and quit before their story can be told.

We will look at how to decide your target age group.  From babies to young adults there is an audience for you, but it's important to find the right one.  We will also discuss the format of the book - hardback, paperback, board book, what's best?  Does your book need an artist?  If it does, we will discuss the best and most affordable way to find one.  In the modern era of self-publishing and print on demand is that the best way for you or should you find a publisher?

Lastly, we look at promotion.  You'll learn how to get your book in more stores and in the hands of more people.  Social media, book signings, and everything in between will be covered.

Join us to get your story started!
